Strange bark

I'm not sure what put these holes on this tree. I thought it was a woodpecker but my hubby thinks probably a worm. Any ideas?
Update: I sent this photo to my Dad and he said the holes are from a yellow-bellied sapsucker (woodpecker) and he's right. :)
My intention was to hurry with my household chores and get online and give a summary of how much fun I had yesterday with my good buddy Kandi. However, after a tremendous amount of housework I'm tired and will have to put off my funny stories until tomorrow.
I'm sure that all four of you who actually read my blog can wait, right? :)

Make that 5 people read your blog - I love your photos. I've followed yours for last few weeks.
I couldn't find exact match for bug or bird, but found examples of both - but not so uniform.

Awww, thanks! :) As soon as I get through with my deadline I'm going to go check out your blog. Thanks for leaving a comment. :)
I can't get your link to work--it says "blogger not found." Am I doing something wrong? (Btw, you can see how I waited until I finished deadline to try and go to your blog.) :) *ahem*
Sorry - it must have been late when I typed my note.
blog is dunkonabike.blogspot.com
I guess no else researched the holes in the bark.
BTW - also in our house, baseball is my wife's favorite sport to watch our son (age 10) play - as you commented several days ago.
I sent the photo to our local extension office. I'm hoping they will tell me something. :) What examples did you find?
There's nothing better than watching your child(ren) play sports as far as I'm concerned. ;)
Sorry too, fast,

That's the best I could find, but not really the same as what you had.
Best of luck!
I went to the smartest man I know (besides my hubby): My Daddy. He said it was a yellow-bellied sapsucker (woodpecker) causing those holes and he was right! :)
