I went to bed last night around 10:30 and fell asleep shortly thereafter, which is HIGHLY unusual for me. As I was falling asleep I was thinking to myself, "Cool, I'm going to get some sleep tonight." The next thing I knew was that my eyes popped open, I looked at the clock and it was a few minutes after 4. :( That's six hours which is a good night's sleep for me, but what's to do at 4 in the morning? Nothing, because you wake everyone else up. I just went ahead and took my shower and read until it was time for Cain, his friend Paden, and Marshall to get up.
We went to what's called a "Coaches Combine." It's an associaton of coaches who provide this camp where football players (and other athletes) can be seen by college coaches and whatnot. They put the kids information on a website and Cain can go as often as he likes to improve. His information will be provided to college coaches and gives him better exposure and hopefully obtain him a scholarship.
He did really good in most of the agility tests they had set up. Of course it was raining so they accounted for that. He ran a 40 in 4.9 seconds, which was really good considering the wet condition of the field. Boys were slipping all over the place. He did a vertical jump, and a couple of other agility tests and THEN had to bench press 185 lbs., which is exactly 20 pounds more than his skinny butt weighs. He could only do it once. He actually did it twice but he raised his hips on one and so that one didn't count. Most of the boys his size did one, two, or none. Then there were the hosses there that did up to 25. Cain kept saying, "Yeah, but look how fast I run." :oD Anyway, there he is doing his one. I'm pretty sure I stopped breathing until he got the weights back on the little thingamadoo that holds the bar.
After that he did the vertical jump and he got really high. I was shocked that he could get as high as he could from a flat-footed jump. Here's that shot:
