Busy Day

I spent today running errands and then headed over the mountain to the funeral home. I had to go by there to give a bit more information for my grandmother's obituary. From there I headed to her house to meet up with my Mom and my aunt so we could get ready for the viewing.

We met up with my two remaning uncles (my grandmother had six children, four are still living) and went into the funeral home. The family wanted to view my grandmother first...well, I guess that's the norm anyway, but we wanted to see her so we could decide if the casket should be opened or closed. She was just so tiny, you know..there wasn't much left to her. The funeral home did a fine job, and she looked beautiful, but she still looked so very tiny. We did decide to leave the casket open. I know that I heard several people comment, who had not seen her in a long time, that they would've never recognized her. My Dad said that, too. It's just amazing the toll that Alzheimer's disease can take on a person.

Brooke was able to make it in last night. She got home around 6 and I'm so, so happy and thankful that she is here. She and Cain met me over at the funeral home and we stayed there until 9 p.m. and finally came on home.

It has been a long day.
