Marshall had to work for a while but when he got home we took off towards Ellijay for the Georgia Apple Festival. He had to stop at one place to do a little bit of work, but then we were on our way.
The apple festival was great fun, albeit very crowded. The festival is about an hour from where we live and I was SO glad to get there. I had been up all night last night with this stupid tooth (as previously mentioned) and probably had a couple of hours worth of sleep. That, coupled with the sinus problem, made me carsick (I think) when we went over Fort Mountain. It's SO curvy! Blah. I didn't think I was going to make it and I was so glad to get out when we got to the fairgrounds.
There were all sorts of fun things to see. My favorite thing there, besides the apples, were these birdhouses made out of stovepipes. Unfortunately the artist had a sign up that said "No photos, please," so I didn't shoot them. However, I think I WILL get some stovepipe and try to make some of those for next year's show at New Salem. But shhhh! That's a secret.
We left the festival and headed back over the mountain. We took a backroad and ended up getting lost, and it was fantastic. :) I took lots of shots of the fall color. They have a lot more color over there than we do here. It was stunning. We caught the light as the sun was going down and the trees were glorious.
We got home around 8:30. We ended up being lost for about three hours. However, I'm sure we can find the place again eventually. I'd love go go camping where we were at. :) The views were wonderful, especially when I got to watch the sun dip below one of the mountains. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
