Brookie is Gone

Thanksgiving evening we stopped by my Grandpa's house to visit with him for a little bit before heading back off of the mountain. When we got there I could see him through the living room window, magnifying glass in hand, bent over his Bible reading it. It spoke volumes to me and I was so transfixed by the beauty of it all that I couldn't even move until I heard Brooke ask me a question.

I wish my mind would've been working so that I could've taken a picture of him. It's assured though, that the scene will forever be in my memory. I snapped this shot of his Bible & magnifying glass, just as he left it, when he went in another room to get something for Brooke. I love it. :)

I cooked a big dinner today so that Brooke could eat a nice meal before she went home. I baked a ham and had all the fixings. It was yummy, too. :) I like having Sunday dinner. My Granny Ruth used to do it every Sunday. I sure miss those days.

Brooke left at about 2:15 today. I just spoke with her a little bit ago and she's sitting in traffic on the other side of Atlanta. Normally it takes right at 5 hours for her to drive home. She's madder than a hornet about it all. In hindsight, I wish she would've stayed another night and left early in the morning so she could've avoided all of the holiday traffic.

I only teared up for a little bit when she left. I'm very proud of me. :) She'll be back home after next week so I'm already very excited about that. She'll be home for a whole month then. :) We'll get to visit my mom & Dad and Marshall's parents since we didn't get to do that this time around.

I didn't get out of my pajamas all day long. I can't believe I didn't at least dress. (c= Oh well, at least they are long pajamas, really cute ones, too. My mom bought them for me for Christmas last year and the shirt says, "My heart belongs to Santa," and the pants have little hearts all over them.

Um, ok. I know my blog is getting bad when I'm describing my PJ's to you. But they really ARE cute.

:0)

Good night. Oh, and a quote from Homer Simpson tonight that caused me to laugh right out loud:

"Well excuse ME for having enormous flaws that I don't work on!"

That is so sweet! I can just picture how you saw him sitting there and it about brings a tear to my eye. What a blessing to have a grandfather like that.
