Raise the Roof

The roof is completed! The gutters are on! The roofers got here at 6:15 this morning and were finished before 1 this afternoon. Yay! Now no more rain falling on the porch. I can't wait for it to rain just so I can make sure that there are no leaks.

We all got up early and I took my shower and Cain and I went to a local garden center so I could look at flowers for the deck. I know NOTHING about flowers but my buddy Dawnia let me borrow a bunch of books last night on creating flower gardens, so I'm going to be reading those.

I did buy another butterfly bush (this one has pretty, dark purple flowers). I also got some cone flowers (Echinacea), and something else that I can't remember the name of right now. I also got a hibiscus and planted it in a huge pot and it looks lovely on the deck.

Cain was THRILLED to have went with me to look for plants and flowers. We were looking around for a LONG time. He said it made him feel like a "real man" to be helping pick out flowers. ;) I told him that I was sure that all the women that were staring at him were wishing THEIR sons would help THEM, and then they were surely oohing and aahhing over how sweet he was being.

Then I cried because he'll be leaving me, but we won't discuss that.

Annnnyway...

When we got home, I set the flowers where I wanted to plant them and Marshall dug all the holes for me. I planted those flowers I just mentioned, plus the daylilies and the yellow Asiatic lily that I bought the other day. I hope everything lives. :)

We rested on the porch for most of the afternoon. I was supposed to go to a church function that my mother was going to be at, but I didn't go. She will still be there tomorrow so I may go visit her then. Plus I really just wanted to hang out on the porch.. :)

You know, people tell me ALL the time how sweet I am. Some people say I'm too sweet, but I have to tell you, my "sweetness" is genuine. I enjoy going out of my way to be courteous to everyone, my family, my friends, the bag boy at my grocery story, to waitresses and waiters, the mailman, etc. And because I'm so sweet, I decided to go ahead and start my Christmas list for this year.

How horrible would it be of me to leave my family and friends guessing, just out there blindly searching for what they HOPE would be the perfect gift for me. That's just not how I roll. I'm a helper. I think of others before I think of myself, so yes, I have started my Christmas list. Here are things I thought I'd like to have. These are not necessarily in any order, AND everything is under $100 (again, my sweetness shines through):

a) Corinthian Bell Chimes. Cain and I saw these today at the garden center and I instantly fell in love. I LOVE chimes and have them all over the place at my house. The ones that I have, have all been made by my grandfather, and one set was made by my cousin. But THESE....these chimes have the prettiest sound I ever heard. They are hand-tuned and oh, the sound! The prices range from $60 to $400, but I'd be fine with the cheapest set. :)

b) Memberships to the Chattanooga Nature Center, or the Chattanooga Zoo, or to the Tennessee Aquarium. Those would be GREAT gifts. :)

c) The Planet Earth dvd's that I never bought myself. :(

d) Chaco! (I like that "Razz" color)

e) And once again, those Looney Tunes "Golden Collection" DVD's that I've been asking for, for ooooh about 5 years now. *sigh*

And that's all. So far anyway. :) (Sweet, I know....)

~~Friday's Feast~~

Appetizer
When was the last time you had your hair cut/trimmed? About two months ago. I'm going next week to get a new do. :)

Soup
Name one thing you miss about being a child. Swinging. I used to stay on my swing set for hours and hours. Sure, I can swing now, but it's not the same.

Salad
Pick one: butter, margarine, olive oil. Depends on what I'm picking it for.

Main Course
If you could learn another language, which one would you pick, and why? Spanish, because it would be quite useful here in this state.

Dessert
Finish this sentence: In 5 years I expect to be… weighing less, and just returning from my 4th or 5th trip from out west. :D

Too funny...so sweet huh? My husband says he is the sweet one. Ha ha.

New roof? Wow, lots of work going on at your place. Sorry I've been a bit lame in visiting.
You know how that is!

Hey, I've never seen those sandals before...I like them!! Might have to put them on my own "sweet" Christmas list lol!

Hope you have a great weekend and I also hope that all of your flowers live, too!
