St. Mary's Episcopal Church

Today while hubby worked I explored around the area of North Carolina that we were in. I went to St. Mary's Episcopal Church in West Jefferson, N.C., to see the world famous frescos (http://www.churchofthefrescos.com).

The frescos were beautiful, and maybe a little eerie. I was in the dark church alone and that was so enjoyable. I sent up a few prayers and then listened to the history of the particular frescos hanging in this church.

I picked hubby up for lunch and we went to Mount Jefferson State Natural area and the views were amazing.  Here is a panorama that I took with my iPhone, but you may need to click on it to see it a little bigger:

We were treated to a cookout at the home of one of the men that Marshall is doing the job for. We really enjoyed meeting the rest of his family. Too bad they live so far away!

We are headed home tomorrow and we sure are anxious to get home - even though this place is just so beautiful. If you ever get a chance to drive down Rt. 88, give that a go. The landscape is breathtaking.
