Merry Christmas!

If you've been following my blog you know that my uncle died Nov. 16, 2005, after a seven-week battle with liver cancer. This was our first Christmas without him. I snapped this photo as the family bowed their heads in prayer to thank the Lord for my uncle's life and for allowing us to all be together to celebrate Jesus' birth.

Christmas was great. We stopped by my aunt's first, where my Mom's side of the family met. We didn't stay very long at all--not even pausing to look at our presents until we got home later that night. Marshall got sick and so we just stayed a few minutes and then went on over to his Mom's house. Bless his heart, he was still sick for quite a while after we got there, but his sister got him some medicine and after a little bit he felt much better. :) (Thanks, Peanut) We had a great time there and laughed until our sides hurt. :)

The kids got up this morning to discover they had full stockings. As you know we aren't really celebrating Christmas until this coming week. But I couldn't NOT get them a little something for Christmas morning.

Brooke decided she wanted to take us all to Cracker Barrel for breakfast after ASSURING us that YES, it would be open. So we all got ready and piled in the car and headed to Chattanooga. When we got there, guess what! Yes, it was closed! So, we made a HUGE circle back home and had sandwiches and snacks. :( What a disappointment, huh? Cracker Barrel or sandwiches at home? Blah.

Have a great night. :)

Rachel circling Cracker Barrel with the family in tow while be a memory worth treasuring and a story to be retold many Christmases from now.
I like how you also included you uncle's memory...I spent alot of time thinking of Lonnie and Dad yesterday.
We too don't get to do the present thing till late this week.
But yesterday was so nice and peaceful.
