Christmas With the Smiths

In case you ever run out of gift ideas, here's a little tip: give me your laugh. Whether it's mischievous, tender, loud, or quiet, simply give me a laugh from your heart. Your laughter brings me never-ending joy. - Helmut Walch

Marshall had to work today so he has started a new ritual when he works on the weekend and this is how it goes: The clock goes off and he says, "Honey, will you hit it (the snooze) for just a few more minutes?" I usually don't say a word, and just hit the snooze. The clock goes off again nine minutes later (who chose nine minutes? why not 10 minutes?) and again he says, "Just one more time honey, ok?" This morning he even threw in an "I love you." Still, I don't say a word. The ritual repeats one more time and if I actually did open my mouth to speak, I'm certain I'd be too embarrassed to repeat here what I would be saying to him.

The problem is, is that I usually wake up early in the mornings, between 4:30-5:30 every morning. On the rare occasion I COULD sleep late, I can't because Capt. SnoozeadozentimesPants doesn't ever get up when he is supposed to. So as soon as he leaves I pop out of bed and start my day. Why don't I put the clock on his side of the bed, you ask? Because for some crazy reason he can't hear it when it's on his side and then that causes me to have to crawl over him to turn the stupid thing off. Anyway, that's how my day started this morning.

I got a lot of housework done. I washed dishes and cleaned my kitchen, swept and mopped, and got all the clothes done except for one load. Yay! I'll have two free days with nothing to do but relax. :)

Marshall got home at 5:30 and we headed to Sand Mtn. to spend Christmas Eve Eve with the Smiths. We had it at a local church this year with our extended family, instead of just Marshall's parents and his siblings. It was great seeing everyone but I kind of missed just the closeness of all of us together at Marshall's parents house. It's always so crowded that you can hardly move, but it's so much fun. :)

We did the Shaggy Santa thing there, and we came away with some great gifts. I got a painting that Marshall's aunt did and I'm tickled to pieces about it. :) I can't wait to find a spot to hang it. It's beautiful.

We each opened one gift when we got home tonight. I don't know why though. We should've waited until tomorrow, but it was fun. :) Now I'm sitting here enjoying the peace and quiet. The only noise is the tv playing National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I love this movie.

Hope your day was a beautiful one.
