I rode with Marshall to Chattanooga today to get some parts for a job he's doing. On the way home we drove through Chattanooga Valley and spotted this gorgeous Barred Owl (or Hoot Owl) very near the road. I had Cain's little camera (Canon S2 IS) with me and I was pleased with the shots that it took.I completed my first month of "Project 366 for 2008." You can see my photos for the project by CLICKING HERE. I'm not sure if you remember but Project 365 (Project 366 for leap year) is where the photographer shoots one photo a day for a year. Last year I got up to day 222 or so, and then just up and forgot one day to take my picture. I hope I complete it all this year. Feel free to join in. You can start any day. :)
Getting that owl photo today (and several more) has inspired me. I have been in a major slump and haven't felt like much count as a photographer. I really want to get more serious about my photography. It's what I love, I'm pretty good at it, and if I really studied it I could probably be much, much better.
I'm also still doing well with my Bible study. I was behind when I started because the study guide I'm going by started on Jan. 1 and I didn't start until Jan. 12 (I think). Anyway, I am almost caught up but I'm having a hard time reading it. I'm in Genesis and Job and neither are easy to read, or at least they aren't for me. I'm understanding better, but in some spots I'm going, "Say what?!"
Someone told me that I should read the New Testament first since the Old Testament was written for Jews (I think that's how she put it). She said I would have better understanding of the OT if I read the NT first. I'm so confused as to what the best way to read it would be and it really means a lot to me to read AND understand. I'm going in chronological order but I don't even know if that's the best way to do it. I wish someone would help me. :(
Lost starts back tonight and I REALLY don't want to get back into it but I feel like we're in it this far so we might as well finish it. It drives me crazy. Do any of you still watch it or have you, like my pal Kandi, lost interest because of all the twists and turns and the no-answers-given AND the long pauses in between the shows?
Today was a very nice day. I hope yours was, too.

Oh my gosh, that photo is so incredibly beautiful! Stunning! I have never spotted an owl in the wild and I love owls. Great shot. How close were you? I'm doing 366 too (though I'm not sure it is the same 366). Some days it is hard.
Honey, you are a wonderful photographer!! I enjoy your work!!
I opted to read and study the four gospels in 2008. Not off to a good start though. My mind just won't focus very long at a time.
I didn't watch Lost at all last season. I also grew tired of it for the same reasons Kandi did. And I got tired of everyone getting killed off. I think they're not going to leave the island...I think they're just all going to be killed off!!!! :)
I was telling Tim last night that Lost has almost lost me as a viewer because I had to think too hard to keep up with it. Isn't that terrible? I was going to watch it last night, but I fell asleep with Max. BTW---great photo!
I read the other night that some photographers just 'have it'. You 'have it' others try to learn it.
I'm a believer in you!
I tried watching Lost once before but "lost" interest and never got back to it.
Girl, that is a fabulous picture! What great luck to find an owl like that!
