I Love This Place

Honey and I are still in Virginia/Tennessee. We finished up in Virginia around 2ish today and then took the scenic route back the three hours it took us to get back to Mountain City, Tn. Actually, any route you take is scenic because this place is gorgeous.

We had quite a scare this morning as we were heading out. Driving in or out of Mountain City is sort of like driving through the Cades Cove area of the Smokies (or over the Smoky Mtns, minus the large mtns.). On one side of us was a beautiful flowing creek (that was on Marshall's side--he was driving) and on the other side (my side) was a natural rock wall--jagged HUGE rocks all over the place.

It was snowing like crazy and we turned a curve and the car started sliding towards the rocks (which were basically right next to the road) and just in time Marshall got control--but then it started sliding in the other lane and towards the embankment of the creek. Again, he regained control and we both said our prayers. That was a pretty bad scare. It really scared me pretty bad. :(

I know I've already said it but you just would not believe how amazing this countryside is. The hills just roll and roll and roll and there are HUGE, old farmhouses that will take your breath away. I so wish we had time to stay for several days.

Cain is headed to a couple of colleges in Kentucky in the morning so wish him luck. His football coach is taking him and he should have a really good day.

Marshall and I are relaxing in the hotel. We thought we were going to head back home today but he still has one more thing to do in the morning. Since Cain won't be home we are not going to get in a rush on our way home so I hope to take a few good photos of the countryside. All of the photos have been "drive by shootings" since we've been so busy.

I haven't been able to get my friend Shirley off of my mind today. Please remember to keep her in your prayers as she has just lost her daughter. Please see yesterday's post for more information.

Good night. :)
