This was the lovely scene that we saw yesterday on the way home from seeing Marshall's Dad. Isn't it beautiful? The fog was almost completely covering the mountain. It stormed just about all day. I wish it were still storming today.I've spent today working on the laundry. The past few days have been busy so I got behind on it. I'm almost finished and I'll be glad when it's done. :)
I've been thinking a lot about my faith. I don't know why I tend to question things or doubt things sometimes and it REALLY bothers me. :( I pray about it, and ask for forgiveness, but why can't my faith be unwavering like other people have? I believe in God and I pray every day--sometimes several times a day, but sometimes something will cross my path and make me think, "this just can't BE!" I hate it when I feel that way. It really upsets me. Please pray for me about this. I really should go to church. I really need to find a good church where I can learn everything I want to know.
One thing that confused me the other day was during Kandi's father's funeral. During the service the preacher (a Baptist, like me) said that her father was not there; that only his body remained, that he was rejoicing in Heaven with the Lord. Then later at the cemetery he said that when Jesus came back, all those souls in the cemetery would go first (or something to that effect)...so which is it? When we die does our soul go immediately to Heaven or do we have to wait until the second coming, and if so, where is our soul at while we wait for Him? It's just all very confusing.
Anyway, that's what is on my mind today. :) Hope your Sunday was a beautiful one.

Everybody's faith wavers, Rachel. That is the nature of faith.
It can be confusing but in the bible Paul says that to be absent from your body is to be present with the Lord. My understanding is that when you die you immediately go to be with the Father but when Jesus comes back, the dead in Christ rise first. What that is talking about is that is when we receive our new spiritual bodies. I am sure that mine will be skinny since I couldn't be in heaven and be fat because then it wouldn't be heaven.
Honey, I don't know of anyone who has unwavering faith. There are lots of questions we all have...we all want details. I believe with all my heart that our Missy is WITH God NOW. I don't know how it all works. My faith is in the belief that this isn't the end and that we will be reunited with her at some point. Look at Peter...he had such strong faith one minute and little the next. It's just how it is and how we are. Don't sweat the small stuff. When you DO need to sweat it, you'll be amazed at how the faith appears out of nowhere! I would have never thought we could have gone through what we've gone through these past two months, but as my friend at work says: You don't need the ticket until you board the train, and the ticket will be there when you need it!
That was Jen up above, this is TheRealOTim.
I found more spiritual peace than ever before in my life when I just let go of all the afterlife dogma. I think too many people spend too much time worrying about things they cannot control.
Have you ever read The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet? I would highly recommend them, and in fact I'm due for a re-read.
Rachel,
If I were to die today, I would be present with the Lord. What it means by the bodies going up first in the rapture is this... those who are saved and are dead, their souls have already made their way to be with God, their bodies will rise up at the rapture and be made new. In Revelation you will see verses about having a new body... Make sense?
It is confusing sometimes, and I have my moments of "Wow, how did that work?" But we have to remember... Our ways are not God's ways, and our simple minds cannot fathom God's incredible greatness and why He does things.
No offense to the above poster, but you don't let go of things to find peace, Jesus is our peace... and even when we don't understand, we just have to turn it over to Him.
All this to say, we can't just say Whatever, However... We need to spend time in the Word, we need to pray and we need to learn from others who are knowledgeable in the Word.
Please don't feel lost or frustrated... Hold on to Jesus...seek His face. You will find your peace!
Love to you dear friend,
Chas
**It would be a great idea to find a church that you enjoy, and that is Biblically sound so you can be fed... and you can have the strength and encouragement of other believers. (((HUGS)))
I wish it wasn't such a drive for you to come to church with me! :)
Hey sugar, you know how I feel about the whole thing, BUT if you do some research and find a book you want, let me know. There are several out there that pop to mind that answer questions like that, Josh McDowell has one that pops right off the bat. There are tons of reference guides written for the layman that tackle questions in words everyone can understand. Let me know whatcha need...
Love you. We sure missed you this weekend. Sure did. Check out my blog and myspace later for the first round of pics.
