Hubby and I ended up on Aetna Mtn. in Tennessee today quite by mistake. I've never been before but I've always heard about the place. Off-roaders, people who love to drive 4x4's and motorcross bikes and the like have always gone to the mtn. to do their share of playing in the mud and seeing if their vehicles can make it over whatever obstacle is in the way.
The mountain roads have mostly been shut off now because apparently some fancy-pants new homes are being built and naturally no one cares about the fact that people have been enjoying that place for so long. Petitions are being signed to stop the development of the land, but I'm going to guess that those in charge couldn't give a rat's butt about the petitions.
Sad to see another natural area going away.
