Exploring With Pa
Today I went exploring with my 71-year ol' Pa. We had a great time together and it's the first outing we've had together in a while.
First, I got up early this morning and headed to church with him and my stepmom. I rather enjoyed the service. There was only about 23 or so people there and the sermon was great. :)
We had lunch together at one of the mountain restaurants and then went back to their house to relax on the porch. We had company (a chipmunk):
And the star of the day showed up, too (Indigo Bunting):
And we had some unexpected guests, too, who came to eat the holly berries (Cedar Waxwings):
After a while we decided to go exploring down one of the old dirt roads on the mountain, but first we stopped at a shelter where my family hid their livestock from Union soldiers during the Civil War:
They made a nice little pen under this rock and as far as we know they only lost one pig when the Union soldiers came through.
When we came out of the woods one of my Dad's neighbors told us to come see what was in his back yard:
It was this beautiful gray fox. She was jogging right along so I didn't get the best shot of her. We talked with the neighbors for a few minutes and then headed on our way.
We had a fabulous day together. I hope your Sunday was great, too. :)
